About OMA

The will of Major General Claude Martin provided for schools to be established in Lucknow, Calcutta and in his birthplace Lyon, France. In India, the school in Calcutta opened in 1836 for both boys and girls although classes were separate. Due to legal wrangles, the school at Lucknow did not open till 1845, nor was there any provision for a girls department. An existing girls school passed into the hands of the Martin Charities who established the Martiniere Girls school in 1869.

OMA is seeking to bring together all past students of La Martiniere Schools. We plan to bring news and reports from the institutions and news of old friends their activities and whereabouts. We are the voice of the Old Martinians Association India. We organise reunions and welcome new members. We present a forum where views can be expressed and tales can be told. This represents the on-line version of the Association Magazine. Articles are contributed by members, ex Martinians and friends. If you wish to make a contribution please contact us.
